As those of you who know me are aware, I have an insane phone cell phone bill. I read a few months ago that Rogers estimates that is average client spends just shy of $70 per month on their cell bill. My average: 4 - 5 times that ... Ouch!!
I tend to complain a lot about this, but it doesn't matter what I do, I can't seem to get my cell bill under three to four hundred dollars a month .... its actually more expensive than our property taxes. Amazing. In the past, when I would get a rather huge bill-usually because of something new I started doing on my phone without thinking-I would call Rogers and ask why I was not informed that checking my email a couple times a day without a data plan would cost me $800 a month. That call resulted in me being told: tough luck.... get a data plan.
I think something has changed at Rogers recently. A change that I think is for the better. A couple months ago I was down in the US for a few days. While there I answered my phone when people called, made a few calls, checked my email. The usual stuff. I figured my bill would be a bit higher than usual - wasn't quite expecting over $350 in roaming for three days!
As I was going to be traveling to the US again in a couple weeks, I figured I'd call rogers and see if they had a roaming plan that would help curb those costs. While I was speaking to them, I explained that I wasn't really expecting that high a bill. Without hesitation, the person on the other end of the line credited the full roaming charges back to my account .... I didn't even ask for it. Very nice.
I figured I just ran into someone nice, but this morning I called to find out what my bill was going to be, and again there were a couple out of the ordinary charges ... mainly for this daily horoscope text message thing that I don't even remember subscribing to. Again, the person I was talking to reversed the charge without me even asking.
Now I don't know if this is a new policy, or just some luck on my part, but the lesson is this - if you get an out of the ordinarily large bill from Rogers, give them a call. There's a good chance they'll help you out!
Talk soon.
